Find festive cheer and family fun at National Park’s Christmas fayres

If you’re searching for a gift for that special someone and want to fill the family with festive cheer, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s trio of top visitor attractions can help you and your kin get into the Christmas spirit.

Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre and Carew Castle, and are all hosting special Christmas entertainment and shopping events, where you’ll also find family fun and be inspired to explore the National Park’s world-class landscape.

National Park Authority Chair Gwyneth Hayward, said: “All three events will include a chance to browse a wide selection of colourful stalls including food, drink and gifts from some of the very best local producers, as well as an opportunity for children to enjoy Christmas activities and visit Santa in his grotto.

“The National Park is also the perfect place to blow off the cobwebs and stay active over the festive period. With dozens of brilliant beaches and hundreds of miles of footpaths just waiting to be explored, this is the perfect time to wrap up warm and blow away the cobwebs with a brisk winter walk.”

Castell Henllys Iron Age Village will provide the first chance to get festive with its Christmas Fayre on Sunday 26 November from 11am-4pm.

The exciting activities will include a chance to get creative with a range of demonstrations and hands-on activities to make your own Christmas cards, gifts or decorations. You can also meet Santa in his grotto, hear festive tales with Mother Christmas, enjoy activities with the Christmas Fairy or take a horse-drawn carriage ride.

Traditionally roasted chestnuts will be on offer outside, while the cosy on-site Y Sgubor café will be serving mulled wine and mince pies.

Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids will hold its annual Christmas Market on Saturday 2 December from 10am-4pm.

Join the festive cheer with mulled wine, minced pies, face painting and live music all helping to create a bustling atmosphere while you browse the stalls.

Children can also meet Santa in his grotto and receive a gift for £2. While you’re there you can also view the range of exhibitions on show including the Sidney Nolan and Graham Sutherland: A Sense of Place display in the main gallery.

The Carew Castle Christmas Fayre will take place on Sunday 3 December from 10am-3pm, when you’ll be able to soak up the joyful atmosphere with festive musical entertainment throughout the day. You can also warm yourself beside the fire in the Lesser Hall with mulled wine as you browse local crafts and delicious Christmas treats.

Parking and entry for children will be free. Entry to the fayre is included in normal admission price for adults, while a visit to Santa’s grotto will be £2.50 per child. For full details visit www.carewcastle.com.
