The National Park Authority has improved and adapted a number of country paths so that they are suitable for access by wheelchairs. A number of wheelchair routes are contained in the Walks for All guide, however, you can also choose a suitable walk by using our search facility and select the Wheelchair Walks category.
This category is subdivided into:
Please note that many of these routes are at the top of high cliffs with unprotected edges. Please take special care when you are passing other path users, or are turning around. If you use a mechanically propelled chair, please limit its speed to walking pace – e.g. 2 to 2.5 miles per hour.
Gentle Strolls (9 routes).
In addition to the wheelchair walks, Gentle Strolls can also be found in the search facility. These routes are not suitable for wheelchairs but are sections of the Coast Path that are considered to be easily accessible for pedestrians as they do not entail too many steps and have no stiles or long steep gradients.
