The mythical island of Gwales has served as the inspiration for a major new artwork by artist Ben Lloyd. Drawing on his experience of growing up on the St Davids peninsula, the surreal story of 'The Assembly of the Wondrous Head' from the Mabinogion, and Osi Rhys Osmond's concept of 'Cultural Alzheimer's', Lloyd has realised the installation Gwales through sculpture, film and sound. The project has been supported by The Arts Council of Wales.

Sarah Williams Local artist Sarah Williams has spent the last few years listening to people in Pembrokeshire, from the Gwaun Valley to Milford Haven, focusing on the Welsh language and the importance of keeping it alive. These conversations form the backbone of her work through painting, collage and installation, Sarah hopes to continue the dialogue and spark further conversation with the viewer. Adam Buick’s work uses a single pure jar form as a canvas to map his observations from an ongoing study of his surroundings. Adam incorporates stone and locally dug clay into his work to create a narrative, one that conveys a unique sense of place. The unpredictable nature of each jar comes from the inclusions and their metamorphosis during firing. This individuality and tension between materials speaks of the human condition and how the landscape shapes us as individuals.

In Land/Sea Mike Perry focuses our attention on the growing environmental crisis at home. This powerful exhibition of landscape photography challenges conventional ways of seeing our coastline and countryside, and opens our eyes to society’s broken relationship with the natural world. Perry’s work sparks conversation about how to restore healthy ecosystems and bring back a wilder landscape. Land/Sea is a Ffotogallery Touring Exhibition curated by David Drake, Director of Ffotogallery, and Ben Borthwick
