A spectacular season of summer drama returns to Carew Castle
Carew Castle is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated line-up of open air theatre productions, which are set to captivate audiences this summer.
The first performance at the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority-run attraction will take place on Monday 31 July, when Red Herring Theatre returns to Carew Castle with Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood. Packed with thrills, laughter, sword fights, and immortal characters like Little John, Friar Tuck, and Maid Marian, this fast-paced family favourite is perfect for a summer evening and will run until Friday 4 August.
An opportunity to click your heels and head on down the yellow brick road will present itself on Monday 7 August, as Immersion Theatre presents a brand new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, a magical family show guaranteed to have you in stitches from beginning to end.
Join Dorothy on her quest to the Emerald City as she and her loyal friends navigate through a magical land in search of the mighty and mysterious, Wizard of Oz. With lashings of audience participation, dazzling costumes, an original script and plenty of laughter, this faithful re-telling promises a fantastic treat for all the family.
The third open air production scheduled to take place at Carew Castle this summer is Bad Dad, written by popular children’s author, David Walliams. A warm-hearted tale about the highs and lows of a father and son relationship, Bad Dad follows Frank and his ex-racing driver father Gilbert as they struggle to escape the clutches of a local crime lord and clear Gilbert’s name.
Carew Castle and Tidal Mill Manager, Daisy Hughes said: “Our open air theatre performances haven proven extremely popular over recent years, so we would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
“Those attending the events will need to bring a rug or low backed chair to sit on, a picnic and suitable clothing to ensure they’re settled in for an enjoyable evening. Hot drinks and ice cream will be available on site.”

The Castle and Tidal Mill will be open every day throughout the summer from 10am-4.30pm (last admission at 4pm), with Nest tearoom serving light lunches, refreshments and a range of delicious homemade cakes.
