Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust has won the Accessible & Inclusive Tourism Award at the 2026 Visit Pembrokeshire Croeso Awards, recognising its work to help more people enjoy Pembrokeshire's coast and countryside.

The award, sponsored by ReallyPro, was presented at Pembrokeshire College on Thursday 29 October, with Angela Robinson, Health and Wellbeing Officer at Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, accepting the award from Amanda Short of ReallyPro and Colin Jackson CBE.

The Trust was recognised for its contribution to Get Outdoors, the Park Authority’s outdoor mobility scheme, which celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier in October.

Since 2006, Get Outdoors has provided free beach wheelchairs and all-terrain mobility equipment at locations across Pembrokeshire, helping people with restricted mobility enjoy beaches and other outdoor spaces that might otherwise be difficult to reach.

In 2025 alone, the equipment was used more than 900 times, enabling people to spend time outdoors with family and friends, revisit favourite places and enjoy experiences that might otherwise be inaccessible.

Angela Robinson, Health and Wellbeing Officer at the Authority, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. It recognises the commitment of everyone involved in making Pembrokeshire a more accessible and welcoming place to visit.

“We know that access to the outdoors can have a huge impact on people’s physical health, mental wellbeing and quality of life. By working alongside local businesses, community partners, volunteers and the people who use our equipment, we are continuing to challenge barriers and make it easier for everyone to enjoy the incredible places Pembrokeshire has to offer.”

The Charitable Trust is helping to secure the scheme’s future through its Get Outdoors Partnership Programme, which encourages businesses and organisations to contribute towards new equipment, maintenance, transport and the continued provision of accessible outdoor experiences.

The programme builds on the support of local businesses, equipment hosts and community organisations, whose involvement has been central to the success of Get Outdoors over the past 20 years.

The Trust hopes the award will encourage more businesses and organisations to get involved, helping to meet growing demand and ensure that more people can enjoy Pembrokeshire’s coast and countryside in the years ahead.
