Your ancient adventure awaits!
Come and visit our Iron Age village where you will meet friendly members of our tribe (between 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm) who will tell you all about life in the Iron Age. You will have the opportunity to have a go with a slingshot (weather permitting), watch a demonstration of an ancient craft or skill and be painted with beautiful blue patterns. A guided tour of the village is also included in your admission fee at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
Please note the Villagers will be having lunch between 1pm-2pm.

Every Sunday, 10am-12pm
Experience the Iron Age with no loud or noisy activities or demonstrations. Normal admission applies.

Haunted Henllys Trail
Saturday 24 October – Sunday 1 November
The Veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest and the ghosts and monsters have started to come out! Walk the woods, and hunt for the spirits and monsters that have appeared. Capture their image or write down their names to claim a prize!

Apple Pressing at Castell Henllys
Saturday 24 October, 11am- 3pm
Apple pressing the ancients’ way. Our rangers will be on site for some traditional apple pressing. Have a go yourself, we suggest bringing your own apples or we will have some from our St Brides heritage orchard. Please bring a container to take juice home.
Free event, normal centre admissions apply.

Samhain/Noson Calan Gaeaf
Saturday 31 October 11am-4pm
As the days become shorter and winter draws closer, join the villages as they celebrate Noson Calan Gaeaf. Enjoy hands on activities and storytelling before gathering around the fire for the afternoon celebration at 3pm.

Winter Solstice
Monday 21 December 11am-3pm
The shortest day is here. Celebrate by trying some festive crafts or listening to stories by the fireside.
As the day draws an end, we will light the bonfire (weather permitting) and there will be a chance to meet the Mari Lwyd!

SPECIAL EVENTS
Ancient Textiles Workshop
Saturday 12 September, 11am-4pm
Learn the textile techniques of our ancestors to create your own piece of prehistoric textile. During this workshop you will be introduced to the basics of spinning, weaving and dyeing.
£45 per person (includes admission to the Iron Age Village and all materials). Tickets non-refundable. Places limited to six per session. Suitable for children age12+ Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets non-refundable. This workshop will be delivered in English.
Folk by the Fire – Padraig Jack
Tuesday 27 October, 7.30pm
Enjoy and evening of music in one of our roundhouses with Irish Folk Celtic songwriter Padraig Jack.
Padraig Jack is gaining a reputation as a bilingual (Irish/English) singer songwriter of substance with music and songs rooted deep in Irish history, culture, language and storytelling.
Padraig is songwriter and writes and sings meaningful songs on guitar and piano in Irish Gaelic and English. With influences from Enya, Emmylou Harris and The Eagles to Van Morrison, Sinead O’Connor and Richard Thompson, Padraig appreciates strong songwriting with a distinct point of view.

This performance will take place in one of our Iron Age Roundhouses, please dress warmly and bring a torch. The performance starts at 7.30pm, so please arrive early to make your way up to the Village in time for the start.
Samhain Spectacular
Thursday 29 October, 5.30pm
The summer is drawing to a close, and it is time to celebrate the end of the harvest. Castell Henllys will be hosting Danny the Fire performer for a spectacular extended fire performance before the ignition of our Wicker Man.
The Wicker Man burning is our most popular event of the year and, following the postponement in August, we are presenting our most impressive show to date! Enjoy an all-new performance as the day transitions to night when the Wicker Man will be lit.
Blasus @Henllys will be providing after event food, with a choice of either BBQ pulled pork or BBQ jackfruit rolls. Please book your food order when booking your tickets. Please email us at enquiries@castellhenllys.com no later than 48 hours before the performance if you have any food allergies that we need to be aware of.
Afon Mel will be joining us again, setting up their mead bar in the Village with a selection of mead and non-alcoholic drinks.

The performance will start at 5.30, so please arrive early to make your way up to the Village in time for the start. Bring a rug or low backed chair. Wear warm/waterproof clothing, bring a torch. Recommended ages 4+

Biofluorescent Night Walk
Friday 30 October, 6.30pm
Join our rangers for an after dark walk exploring the magical world of biofluorescence in the Autumn woodland at Castell Henllys. Using UV torches we will discover the vibrant colourful display of fungi and lichens at this time of year.
This event will be delivered in English, but can also be delivered in Welsh if there is sufficient demand.
