A new exhibition at Oriel y Parc invites visitors to explore the shifting boundaries of land, sea, and imagination through the lens of acclaimed artist Garry Fabian Miller – one of the most progressive figures in fine art photography.
Drawing on over four decades of deep observation, Fabian Miller’s images examine our enduring fascination with the horizon – the meeting point of land, sea, and imagination.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales and spans the full arc of Fabian Miller’s artistic journey, from his 1970s Sea Horizon photographs, captured from his Clevedon rooftop, to his later cameraless works, created in the darkroom using light, glass, water and plants to produce abstract, luminous images inspired by the sea and sky.
Fabian Miller’s work is held in major collections around the world—in Paris, New York, Bangkok, London—and, thanks to Amgueddfa Cymru’s acquisition of The Sea Horizon series, now in Cardiff. And from there, his work has come to us in St Davids, where this rural peninsula lies at the threshold between the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea.

Divided between two gallery spaces, Môrwelion / The Sea Horizon invites visitors to experience the evolving moods and mysteries of the horizon – moving from observation to imagination, and from the tangible coastline to more abstract realms.
The exhibition presents a captivating exploration of time, place, and light and offers a deeply hopeful message rooted in connection to the natural world.
Experience the timeless beauty of Môrwelion / The Sea Horizon for yourself, with this fantastic opportunity to see camera photography and imagined Dark Room meditations on the horizon, side by side.
