The National Park Authority manages around 40 car parks and parking areas; we charge on 14 of these and use the income to help us maintain the car parks and paths in the Park.
The charging period runs from 1 March to 31 October (inclusive). During this period all vehicles must display either a valid Pay and Display ticket, a pre-purchased Season Ticket or purchase a digital ticket via PayByPhone. Charging hours run from 9am to 7pm at each site.
Outside of the charging period, we offer free parking on all Authority charging car parks for four months each year, from November to February.
We also offer 30 minutes free parking (60 minutes for Blue Badge holders) across all of our charging car parks during the charging period.
Pay and Display Charges on-site (cash only)
- Up to 30 minutes: £0 (no return within 4 hours)
- Up to one hour: £1.50
- Up to two hours: £4
- Up to four hours: £6
- Daily: £8
- Coaches: Daily: £16
(Blue Badge holders must pay but will receive an additional hour of parking)
Cashless payments
If you prefer not to use our on-site coin machines, you can pay via PayByPhone (opens in new window) using their app, a text, a phone call, or online.
Because mobile network coverage varies across the National Park, digital payment options depend on your local signal strength. If you find yourself without coverage, you can still display a free 30 minute ticket by printing one from the on-site coin machine. This gives you the opportunity to either pay with cash or find a stronger signal elsewhere.
You can also pay via PayByPhone before you travel, though please note this does not guarantee a parking space will be available. For additional support, please visit the PayByPhone website (opens in new window).

Operational information:
Charging points are connected to the Dragon Charging Network which is backed by the UK wide Clenergy network. Register or login via the Dragon Charging website (opens in a new window) to start using a charger, alternatively, chargers can also be accessed via the Dragon Charging app available via the the Google Play Store (opens in a new window) and Apple app store (opens in a new window).
Please note that PCNPA has no responsibility for the maintenance of the charging points. PCNPA has an eight-year concession contract with Silverstone Green Energy via Dragon Charging.
Guidance for poor connection spots (e.g. Freshwater East):
Dragon Charging recommend registering an RFID card at another Dragon Charging location to mitigate the need for the App or website when using a site with a poor signal.
Please refer to the FAQ’s on the Dragon Charging website (opens in a new window)
You can register any existing RFID card on to the DragonCharging network. To register a card, take your card to your nearest DragonCharging network charger and follow the instructions below:
- Login to your DragonCharging account
- Select My Account from the main menu
- Go to RFID Card
- Tap on Register
- Follow the on-screen instructions
You can now start using your chosen RFID card at all DragonCharging network charge points.
