Monday 16 February to Sunday 22 February 10am – 3pm
Your ancient adventure awaits!
Come and visit our Iron Age Village where you will meet friendly members of our tribe (10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3pm) who will tell you all about life in the Iron Age. You will have the opportunity to have a go with a slingshot (weather permitting), watch a demonstration of an ancient craft or skill and be painted with beautiful blue patterns. A guided tour of the village is also included in your admission fee at 12 noon.
Experience the Iron Age Quiet Morning
Sunday 22 February 10am-12 noon
Experience the Iron Age with no loud or noisy activities or demonstrations. Normal admission applies.
Local storyteller Hedydd Hughes will be sharing Pembrokeshire legends, ancient Welsh tales, and myths from further afield. Each will reveal the wisdoms of the ancients and their relationship with the earth and the cosmos. All will take place beside a crackling fire inside our Iron Age round house. Suitable for all ages. Site entry cost applies.
Journey of the Legends Creative Workshop
Thursday 19 February, 10.30am-2.30pm
Join storyteller Michael Harvey and local artist Kate Evans for an inspiring, hands-on creative workshop rooted in Welsh myth and environmental action.
Children will hear the Journey of the Legends story inspired by Twrch Trywth, the magical boar from the Mabinogion, woven together with St David’s message: Gwnewch y pethau bychain / Do the little things. Through this tale, Twrch Trywth becomes a symbol of climate change and rising sea levels, encouraging young audiences to think about how we respond to environmental challenges. After the storytelling, children will work with Kate to create their own artwork connected to the story.
Show off your masterpiece at the St David’s Day Parade at Oriel y Parc on Saturday 28 February, when Journey of the Legends story will be brought to life!
Join our rangers for an after dark walk exploring the magical world of biofluorescence in the Spring woodland at Castell Henllys. Using UV torches, we will discover the vibrant, colourful display of lichens, plants and insects at this time of year.
