Explore the Lighthouse

A memorable and unique experience to step inside one of the few island lighthouses along the Pembrokeshire coast. You will be divided into two small groups of 10 to enjoy a private visit to the keeper’s cottage and a guided exploration of the lighthouse.
Gain a rare insight into lighthouse life from the current keeper, before joining a Ranger to discover the lighthouse’s significance within the National Park. Uncover its rich heritage, stories of nearby shipwrecks, and its connection to the Coast Path, surrounding farmland, and native wildlife.
Maximum of 20 people (two groups of 10).
Meet at the first carpark at Strumble Head (SM895412 ///concerts.nerves.twigs, or view it on Google Maps)
Please wear warm clothing and walking boots/shoes. No dogs on this walk.
Due to the location of the building the only access is via a long and steep flight of steps. Height restrictions of 1.1m apply.

From Toes to Nose – A Giant’s Trail

Not many people know there is a giant living in St Davids…
From his gazing eyes and rough skin to his long, scruffy fingernails, traces of the giant can be found throughout the grounds. His beating heart lies within our centre – but something important is missing. Come and explore the woodland, courtyard, and grounds to help find what the giant has lost. Use all your senses to unearth the giant on this fun family-friendly adventure.

Helen Chadwick: Body and Landscape
Wednesday 22 July
An ARTIST ROOMS exhibition in partnership with Tate and National Galleries of Scotland.
Explore our new exhibition to discover work by Helen Chadwick, one of the most inventive artists of her generation. Inspired by her exploration of the human body and the natural world, create a life-sized body map. Trace your own body, map it with the landscape of Pembrokeshire and fill with things that you love.
Note for parents:
Helen Chadwick explored the human body using unusual materials in surprising ways. Her work invites us to think about what it means to be human and how we connect with the natural world.
Some artworks in the exhibition include nudity, images of meat from a butcher’s shop, and microscopic images of human body cells. These works may inspire curiosity and spark conversations about what our bodies do.

Pablo Picasso: Self-Portraits

Discover the exciting world of Cubism and create a colourful self-portrait in the style of Pablo Picasso. Experiment with bold shapes, patterns and expressive mark-making to make your own masterpiece.

Claude Monet: Lily Pond Creations

Take inspiration from Claude Monet’s famous lily pond paintings and Pembrokeshire’s own Bosherston Lily Ponds. Discover how the founder of Impressionism captured light and colour to shape your own artwork to take home.

Piet Mondrian: Colour & Shape

Explore the bold style of Piet Mondrain, known for his colourful grids and simple geometric designs. Using colour blocking and bright primary colours make and take your very own piece of art.

Vincent van Gogh: Sunflower Sculptures
Wednesday 19 August
Famous for his starry nights and vibrant sunflowers, the work of Vincent van Gogh will inspire you to make your own 3D vase of sunflowers. Learn about Post-Impressionism in this sunny workshop.

Edvard Munch: The Scream

Find out why Edvard Munch’s The Scream is one of the world’s most recognisable paintings. Using a photo of your face and a range of mixed-media materials, create your own expressive version of this iconic artwork.

Solar Imaging and Viewing*

This is an opportunity to see the sun in detail and, if conditions allow, maybe even take an image of your own – all done in complete safety. Preseli Astronomy will show you how to find the sun using a smart telescope and the viewing will be done on an iPad Screen. No experience is needed and it is suitable for all.
*Please do not look at the sun, especially using any form of optics.

Stargazing – Exploring the Night Sky with Preseli Astronomy Society

A chance look at the night sky through different telescopes. You’ll also discover just how easy modern Smart Scopes make astronomy, with intelligent technology that does much of the work for. As it is summer, the session will involve searching for galaxies, bright nebulae and the Milky Way. If conditions allow, you will be shown how to photograph the Milky Way with a smart phone. Suitable for all. Please wear warm clothes as the nights can be cool.
