Guided Tour: Secrets of Castle Construction

Learn some of the secrets of castle construction on this free tour. Discover long forgotten building techniques and hidden architectural features.

Join a free guided tour of our herb garden. Our knowledgeable guide will introduce you to our beds of culinary, dye, medicinal and fragrant herbs with fascinating insights into their uses throughout history.

LARP Experience: Folklore Realms
Sunday 28 September
Player registration from 12pm, adventure begins at 1pm

Prepare for a one-of-a-kind storytelling adventure with The Storymaster’s Tales. Folklore Realms is not your typical storytelling event, it’s a live action role-playing experience like never before!  Set in an alternative 18th-century world, if you wish to play, please come dressed as a wizard, pirate, ranger or a good fae creature. Brought to life by best-selling author and games designer Oliver McNeil, this multi-media activity will engage all ages in a world of dragons, traps, treasure and unforgettable characters.

Apple Pressing Day
Saturday 4 October, 10am-2pm

Bring your apples along to Carew Castle where we will help you turn them into delicious juice with our apple press. Just bring your apples, something to put all the delicious juice in and have a go!

FREE activity. No Castle admission required.

 

Pumpkin Patch Adventure
Saturday 25 October to Sunday 2 November, 10am–4pm

Embark on a Pumpkin Patch Adventure at Carew Castle! Kids will explore the enchanting castle searching for pumpkin clues. A fun autumn adventure filled with mystery and excitement!

£2 per child plus normal admission fees apply.

 

Creepy Mill: A haunted house experience!
Saturday 25 to Sunday 2 November, 11am to 5pm (last admission 4.30pm)

The Tidal Mill is back for another year of spooky scares! Are you brave enough to make your way through the dark, haunted Mill all decorated for Halloween? Watch out for things that might be lurking in the gloom…

Included FREE with a normal admission ticket. Recommended age 4+ (parental discretion advised), children must be supervised at all times.

The Storymaster’s Tales: Castle of Blood
Monday 27 – Wednesday 29 October at 11am  and 1pm

Join a brand-new chilling fantasy adventure for Halloween 2025!

Including interactive quests created and performed by international best-selling immersive author and games designer Oliver McNeil of The Storymaster’s Tales. This brilliant family fantasy show includes audience participation that will change the course and outcome of the quests.

Suitable for age 6 to adult, running time approx. one hour. Tickets £6 per person.

Join a family-friendly spooky tour of the Castle. Keep your eyes peeled as you listen to stories of ghostly sightings; you never know what you might see…

Fantastic Beasts and how to rescue them!
Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October, 11am and 2pm

Join us for an enchanting adventure in ‘Fantastic Beasts and How to Rescue Them!’. Embark on a daring journey to save the Bowtruckles from the threatened Forbidden Forest. Along the way, you’ll face magical creatures like Acromantulas, Chizpurfles, and even a giant serpent! Solve riddles, navigate obstacles, and create your own magical tools and creatures to help on your epic quest. With imagination and teamwork, take on this heroic rescue mission and guide the Bowtruckles to their new home. Perfect for young explorers and fans of magical worlds!

Recommended for ages 4 – 8,  1 hour session, children must be accompanied.

Halloween Paranormal Investigation
Friday 31 October, 6pm – 10pm

Join Paranormal Investigation experts ‘Science Beyond the Grave’ this Halloween as they explore all things supernatural at one of the most haunted castles in Wales.

Use cutting edge investigation equipment to contact whoever, or whatever, haunts the Castle. Also try traditional communication methods including Ouija boards, table tipping, glass moving as well as spending time alone in the darkened rooms of this 12th century Castle.

Experts will guide you through this fascinating, and terrifying, experience. Refreshments provided.

£40 per person, suitable for age 18 and over only.

BOOKING ESSENTIAL Tickets are non-refundable and the event will go ahead in wet weather.

Glow
Christmas Illuminations at Carew Castle
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 28 November to 14 December
4.30pm – 7.30pm

Enchanting light displays create a magical welcome for all the family as you approach the Walled Garden, with Nest Tearoom serving all your festive favourites.

The magic continues as you follow the twinkling lights to discover the Castle dressed for Christmas, with atmospheric new displays for 2025, this is one experience not to miss!

Take part in a Snowman Trail, hunt for the clues hidden around the Castle and receive a treat for your efforts! The trail costs £2 per child.

Live music from local choirs and groups will be in the Lesser Hall each weekend.

Yes, due to the popularity of Glow this event requires prebooking via our website.

Santa’s Grotto
Saturdays and Sundays from  29 November to 14 December
10am – 4pm

Santa will be in his magical Grotto hidden within the Castle walls

How much does it cost to see Santa?

It costs £8 per child to meet Santa and receive a gift. The ticket includes daytime entry to the Castle.

Is there a charge for the rest of the group?

All those accompanying the child to the Grotto MUST also purchase a valid Castle entrance ticket.

Accompanying tickets are priced as:

Adult £3.50, Child (4-16) £2.50 (not seeing Santa)

Accompanying tickets can be purchased online.

Please allow time to walk from the Shop to the Castle. Grotto/daytime tickets are not valid for evening entry.

Is the grotto accessible for all?

Yes, the Grotto is on the ground floor of the Castle.

Will the Tearoom be open?

Yes, Nest Tearoom will be open serving festive treats including our fabulous luxury hot chocolates and mulled wine!
