Events and Activities Terms and Conditions

  • Tickets purchased for events held in the evenings or outside normal Castle/Mill opening hours (see our Plan Your Visit Page for times) do not include daytime admission to the Castle/Mill. Daytime tickets will need to be purchased separately.
  • An event ticket for an evening event includes entrance at the time of the event, and only for the event booked. Please be aware that there may be restricted access in the castle during ticketed events, and the same access and amenities open to day visitors may not be available.
  • When purchasing tickets online it is your responsibility to check your order and order confirmation throughout the purchase process; mistakes cannot always be rectified.
  • If an event is listed as BOOKING ESSENTIAL you will need to purchase a ticket from our website ahead of the event.
  • Registered disabled visitors will need to purchase an event ticket. If applicable, one accompanying carer will receive free entry. Carers will need to provide proof of their status; see our Plan Your Visit page for a list of accepted documentation. Please contact the Castle if the Carer ticket option is not available online.
  • Visitors should carefully check event times and dates before they visit. We hold no responsibility to issue a refund or to provide space in alternative sessions if visitors arrive on the wrong date or time.
  • Annual Passes do not permit entry to ticketed events, evening tours or any event or activity with an additional charge.
  • Event prices are for the date you have purchased, Carew Castle reserve the right to change the price of any sequential events.
  • A ticket shall not be used for promotional purposes without formal consent given by Carew Castle.
  • All prices are in pounds sterling £ inclusive of the current rate of Value Added Tax VAT applied in the UK (where applicable).

Different types of event/activity entry

  • Events/activities listed as additional activities require purchase of a normal daytime Castle/Mill admission ticket for all adults and children. The additional events/activities can then be purchased separately if desired.
  • Events/activities listed as included free with normal admission fee require purchase of a normal daytime Castle/Mill admission ticket for all adults and children but no further charges apply for that activity.
  • Where an event/activity is listed as free activity. No Castle admission required; this activity will take place before the pay barrier to the Castle/Mill. No entry is granted to the Castle/Mill without purchase of an admission ticket.
  • Events/activities listed with a charge but not including admission to the Castle; this activity is chargeable and will take place before the pay barrier to the Castle/Mill. No entry is granted to the Castle/Mill without purchase of a separate admission ticket.
  • Some events/activities may require tickets to be purchased for accompanying adults as well as children. Please check individual event listings carefully.

Before attending an event

  • Our event listings will advise of any clothing or equipment you may need. Please take note of these. They may include, but not be limited to warm and waterproof clothing, a torch, footwear suitable for the conditions.
  • We do not provide seating for Open Air Theatre performances. Please ensure you bring appropriate seating such as a rug or low backed chair. Please be aware that theatre shows are held on grass which may be wet.
  • All tickets will be in e-ticket format only. Customers will receive an email confirmation. There is no need to print paper copies. Please give your full name on arrival at an event and have the email confirmation available on a device if requested by staff.
  • For all activity sessions or tours please ensure you arrive at least ten minutes before its start time.
  • Please be aware that one of our carparks is a five/ten minute walk from the Castle. At larger events or during peak times you may be directed to park there. Please allow plenty of time to park and make your way to the event/activity.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times (an adult must be over 18).
  • Our staff will not supervise children during activities/events. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to do so.

Refunds and cancellations

  • Event/activity tickets are non-refundable and may not be copied or resold to other parties.
  • Open Air Theatre will go ahead in wet weather. Please come prepared for this.
  • Occasionally we may need to cancel events or change the times. If you have purchased event tickets, we will make all reasonable effort to contact you in advance to notify you of these changes, using the contact details you provided at time of booking.
  • Tickets are non-refundable. We do not offer refunds due to weather conditions, waiting times, changes to the daily schedule of activities or partial closure of the Castle/Mill. In the event of adverse weather conditions, areas of the castle may be closed off for the safety of our visitors. Refunds will not be given in this instance. If you are concerned about the weather, we suggest checking our Facebook page or phoning the Castle on 01646 651 782 prior to visiting.
  • If dangerous weather conditions lead us to cancel a ticketed event (and/or closure of the Castle) then an alternative time or date may be offered to you. If that is not possible then a full refund will be issued. If a refund is due, we will contact you using the contact details you provided at time of booking.
