Routes to Discovery is a people-led project, which is all about the restorative powers of Pembrokeshire’s amazing outdoors and especially its National Park.
This project follows on from the success of Roots to Recovery, and the well-nurtured partnership between Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority & Mind Pembrokeshire.
Routes to Discovery is delivered in partnership by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Mind Pembrokeshire and is supported through the National Lottery Community Fund until July 2028.
Routes to Discovery is for…
- Young Carers.
- Young People
- People whose mobility reduces opportunities for them to benefit from time spent accessing the outdoors
- People from the wider population of Pembrokeshire who identify as having poor mental health
Our activities are designed to be accessible, fun and sometimes relaxing, with the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people. A typical programme might include:
- Arts and crafts with an outdoor theme, with some indoor sessions for when being outdoors isn’t possible.
- Walks (to suit a range of abilities).
- Community-based volunteering opportunities – e.g. Community Gardens, Conservation Tasks & Litter Picking.
- The opportunity for people to explore the great outdoors on their doorsteps and the amazing National Park.
- Tailored outdoor experiences in and around Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The Routes to Discovery team offer support for those wishing to join in, including transport for many of the activities – further details are included in our monthly programmes.
