Born and brought up together in the Welsh hills, their hearts and summer memories lie deep within the Pembrokeshire coast. They walk the edge of their separated lands looking outwards across the water, up at the sky and down to the soil, sand and rock.
Sister Shores by Fern Wright and Lara Julia Bean
A body of water lies between two sisters.
Fern Wright now lives and works in Waterford, Ireland. Her work focuses on the tactile complexities within our rich coastal environment, stripping away layers of visual stimulus and homing in on the patterns and colours beneath her feet and hands. She expresses herself using oil paints on canvas.
Lara Julia Bean is based in Angle. Her work is an exploration of the dynamic Pembrokeshire sea and sky explored through the medium of dried flowers grown in Pembrokeshire soil. As a gardener and flower artist, her life is dictated by the weather that blows in from the prevailing west. First passing over the Irish coast, connecting two sisters divided by sea but joined by winds and sky from one shore to another. Within hours Waterford clouds bless a tiny piece of Pembrokeshire skies and land where the flowers grow…
