Experience the Iron Age
Your ancient adventure awaits!
Come and visit our Iron Age Village where you will meet friendly members of our tribe (10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm) who will tell you all about life in the Iron Age. You will have the opportunity to have a go with a slingshot (weather permitting), watch a demonstration of an ancient craft or skill and be painted with beautiful blue patterns. A guided tour of the village is also included in your admission fee at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Experience the Iron Age with no loud or noisy activities or demonstrations. Normal admission applies.

Although we can provide our sessions bilingually, these sessions are aimed at visitors who would like their experience entirely through the medium of Welsh. These sessions are also suitable for those who are learning Welsh. Normal admission applies.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Fun in the Fort
Tuesdays and Thursdays during School Holidays from 11am
Try a variety of hands-on prehistoric activities including, enquire at reception upon arrival to find out what sessions will be running during your visit. Additional fee applies plus normal admission.
Druid Magic
Wednesday 27 March and 3 April 11am and 2.30pm. Booking Essential.
Druids of Iron Age Britain were knowledgeable, wise, and secretive. Join a hands-on session to learn some of their secrets, including fire lighting, bread making and face painting. Ages 6+. £7 per child plus normal admission.
Spring trail
Saturday 23 March to Sunday 14 April
The winter fades, and the time of new beginnings has arrived. Find the signs of spring throughout the woods. Take a photo or write them down to claim your prize.
£2 plus normal admission.
Warrior School
Sunday 31 March from 11am
Take up arms and find out how people in the past fought in the Village’s Warrior School. Learn to wield a sword and shield and put it into practice against your opponent. Age 7+
Additional fee applies plus normal admission.
Become a River Explorer
Tuesday 2 April, 10am-2pm
West Welsh Rivers Trust are hosting a family fun Rivers Explorer day. Grab your wellie boots, magnifying glasses and binoculars as we investigate life in our rivers. From invertebrates to otters, learn about river ecology as you train to become a top river explorer!
SPECIAL EVENTS
April Fools Tour
Monday 1 April 11am-12 noon
Enjoy a ridiculous tour of the Iron Age this April Fool’s Day! Full of fictitious facts and dubious dates this tour will cover everything you never knew about the Iron Age (for good reason!). A truthful tour will be available in the afternoon.
Home Education Day – Vikings!
Wednesday 17 April 10.30am-2pm
A chance for home schooling families and groups to experience the school’s program at Castell Henllys. Pupils will be taken back in time for a session led by our costumed interpreters. Our school’s program is designed for KS2 and is aimed at children aged 7-11 and older children are welcome to attend with younger siblings.
£8 per child. Includes one free adult admission per family group.
